In 1983, founder Hans Nordelius invented the first dynamically playable drum pad using sampled sounds, called the Digital Percussion Plate 1 (DPP1). The DPP1 was an instant success, and shortly thereafter, the ddrum brand was launched. ddrum's innovative pads, featuring real drumheads and rims, achieved enormous popularity. Even today, many consider them the best digital drum triggering system on the market.
